To strip under Saturn in Scorpio

by Luiza Azancot. Average Reading Time: almost 4 minutes.

Sorry readers…  I am not going to talk about striptease or any other method of removing clothes.  However, I found myself using this verb quite a lot while talking with a friend astrologer about people who are going through hard times.

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary to strip can also mean:

to deprive of possessions

to divest of honors, privileges, or functions

to remove extraneous or superficial matter from

to make bare or clear

When I left my friend’s house I had with me a much liked umbrella. I was deprived of its possession almost immediately because I left it on the bus 738.  The next day I filed for a town tax adjustment because the amount seemed excessive – I felt robbed.

Since then, in conversation with friends and clients, this topic has appeared repeatedly: the sale of a house felt like being stripped of a former life, the loss of a job felt like being stripped of a secure income and the permanent foot injury felt like being stripped of the pleasure of exercise.

Departing from the personal world, I read a news story where Pope Francis invited the Church to “strip itself of worldliness”.  A strong message conveyed in the room St. Francis of Assisi eight centuries ago, stripped himself of all his worldly possessions.

All these hints encouraged me to look astrological into this process.

Whenever we hear “limitations” we look at SATURN.  This planet has a cycle of 29 years around the Sun and therefore, spends approximately 2 ½ years in each sign. On 5th of October 2012 Saturn entered the sign of SCORPIO where it will remain active until mid-June 2015.

Those who have more astrological knowledge know that the intensity of Saturn in Scorpio is amplified by the presence of Pluto (ruler of Scorpio) in Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) (2008-2024).

The energy of Saturn can be felt at material and psychological level. Limitations are sometimes so heavy and so restrictive that trigger negative thoughts, feelings of sadness that plunge us into depression. Saturn or Chronos, the god of time, forces us to accept that everything has its time and nothing and no one can exist beyond their natural lifespan.

Scorpio rules transformation: what is no longer needed must to be thrown away (by ourselves or the universe takes care of this task more ruthlessly) to make way for the new. It is a process of elimination, of cleansing to achieve a state of purification. Scorpio is the sign more related to “power” understood both as the powerful of this world and as individual power. I would like to remind the powerful of this world that the wheel turns and Saturn is related to accountability and Scorpio can be merciless. Individually, in order to become truly powerful we have divested ourselves of fears and get to the bottom, to the core, to gist of who we are.

Saturn in Scorpio is neither light nor fun but the experiences of Saturn in general and particularly in Scorpio, if well lived, eventually will bring serenity and the strength necessary to achieve major goals in life. Saturn is the master, the demanding coach that imposes discipline and in Scorpio does it through grueling workouts that make us lose everything that is superfluous.

When the Pope said “Many of you have been stripped by this savage world that does not give employment, that does not help….” he was referring to the powerful who are increasingly dehumanized in a race to become richer and richer.

My town will likely strip me of a lot of money that I hope will be spent for the good of the community, the same way I hope that my umbrella is being useful to whoever found it. My friend’s house has no place in her current life and its sale will give her the chance to build something else, the person who lost her job is now free of a slave work and will have time to explore different venues that are more satisfying and the one with the foot problem will have to humbly accept that age has stripped her of some pleasurable activities.

Personally, Saturn in Scorpio helps me get rid of deadwood, helps me drop ballast that prevents me from soaring but since the task is difficult I ask the gods and goddesses of the zodiac to grant me:

The power of Water, to accept with ease & grace what I cannot change

The power of Fire, for the energy & courage to change the things I can.

The power of Air, for the ability to know the difference.

And the power of Earth, for the strength to continue my path.

Luiza – In October I did a self-reflection day to help focus the coming chapter of my evolution. The words that arose were: sufficiency; a ‘curated life’ that includes concepts such as pare down, select, edit, shed, and carve; ‘here-ness'; ‘home-made/life-made'; and ‘rewind’. Then I just read your message. I’m on the right path . . .
