Astro Garden

by Luiza Azancot. Average Reading Time: almost 2 minutes.

A future great astrologer, C.G., observed that it is a shame that my astrological garden can no longer  be seen on my site. The site has changed because my life has changed and, in fact, the astrological garden created around our house in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, possibly no longer exists. In August 2013 we sold that house.

C. G. suggested I post the pictures of the astrological garden. I thought it was a good idea; so here are the pictures that illustrate my creative work developed over a year and reflect the importance that these symbols have for me.

Featured in the garden were the twelve glyphs of the zodiac, symbolically correct either by color, functionality or type of material used.

1ArAries – Red, the color of blood and of the planet Mars, ruler of the sign.

2TauTaurus – Made of solid and practical material, surrounding a magnolia tree whose flowers are very sensual.

3GeminiGemini – The gate that opens the area where conversations take place, the deck!

4CanCancer – Nurtures, in this case the small creatures with a bird bath.

5LeoLeo – The largest and most expensive structure but also fun for the children.

6VirgoVirgo – Made of no nonsense material functionally holding the slope.

7LibraLibra – The herb garden that beautifies and perfumes the home.

8ScoScorpio – The composter hidden behind a tree transforms waste into rich soil.

9SagSagittarius – The arrow pointing to the sky, a celebration of the American spirit of adventure and optimism.

10CapCapricorn – A structure made from an old pine tree marking the border of the yard.

11AquAquarius – In the shower perspective often comes when water is pouring down.

12PiscesPisces – The meditation bench more often used in summer rather than in winter.

Symbols are powerful instruments; they act as keys that open the doors of our mental and emotional universe. Every time I pushed my grandchildren on the Leo swing I felt sheer joy, every time I put the leaves in the composter I felt the transforming power of Scorpio, every time I filled the Cancer bird bath I felt protective, nurturing Nature.

I thank the Universe for this garden and the ability to create it.
